Sharwan is a nature educator based near Jaipur, working at Dhun School, where he facilitates learning for 5–9-year-olds. Coming from a farming family, he brings deep practical knowledge of soil, crops, insects and the rhythms of rural life. His teaching blends farming, nature walks, playful discovery and hands-on problem-solving, guided by the belief that he is learning alongside children.
Passion Project
Primary Focus Area
Farming, Permaculture & Soil Ecology., Nature Education , Eco-Literacy
Special Expertise
Mandala gardening (permaculture), designing farm-based learning for young children, integrating maths with nature walks, leading nature walks and observation activities, coordinating campus and learning spaces
Mandala Gardening & Nature Farming introduces children in Dhun School to chemical-free farming through hands-on mandala beds. Students dig, observe earthworms and insects, sow vegetables, monitor growth and cook their harvest. Sharwan integrates maths (counting steps, birds, leaves), science concepts, soil types, composting and pollination through play. Role-plays, butterfly life-cycle work and daily observations deepen understanding of ecological roles and the impact of chemicals. The project nurtures pride, responsibility and joy in growing food.
Communities engaged
Village children around Dhun campus; Urban children from Jaipur who attend camps/workshops; families (through children influencing farming practices at home)
Pedagogical Style
Sees himself as a co-learner, not a “teacher”; hands-on, play-based, and outdoor; lots of questioning and discussion; merges maths and science with real farm work; minimal lecturing or board work; builds confidence and voice in children.
